John Tully Obituary

John Tully, 72 of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026 with his family by his side at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY.

John was born on January 11, 1954 in the Bronx, NY to Irish immigrants, Patrick Tully of County Galway and Ellen “Rose” Tully (née Fee) of County Leitrim. The youngest of seven children, he was raised in the Bronx and attended Holy Spirit Grammar School, graduating from Saint Raymond’s High School in 1971. He later studied Political Science at Manhattan College, graduating with a BA as a proud Jasper in 1975.

On June 28, 1980, John married the love of his life, Kathleen Hosey of Longford, Ireland at Saint Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, NY. Soon after, they started a family and moved to Pearl River, NY in 1982.

A banker all his career, John started as a teller at Emigrant Bank, and retired in 2019 as a Senior Financial and Economic Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, attaining several Vice President positions at various banks in between.

John was known for his infectious laugh, sense of humor, and quick wit. Whether through a perfectly timed joke or a playful remark, he had a way of bringing a smile and laughter to those around him. He valued the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life, held a deep reverence for his Irish heritage, and remained steadfast in his Catholic faith.
He was a lifelong Yankees fan, growing up in the shadow of Yankee Stadium. His favorite player was Mickey Mantle. He also loved the New York Giants, and enjoyed golfing whenever he had the chance. He had an affinity for music, which led to a large record collection, a love for guitar playing, and a deep appreciation for rock and Irish bands. Locally, he was a long-time member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Division III, where he served as Vice President, managed their softball and basketball teams, and organized bus trips to baseball games over the years. He was honored as Hibernian of the Year in 2004.

Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy came from his family. He took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children, and cherished being “Bapa” to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Kathleen; sons Sean (Shannon; Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) and Brian (Theresa; Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY); daughter Meagan (Bronx, NY); beloved grandchildren Nolan, Elliott, Grace, and Rosaleen; brother Martin (Maureen); sister Ellen Stack (Sean); siblings-in-law Margaret Mulhall (née Hosey), Patrick Hosey, John Hosey, Michael Hosey (Anne), James Fox; and numerous devoted nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings Mary (Fox), Michael, Patrick, and Thomas.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, June 24th, between 4pm-8pm, at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 25th, at 10am, at St. Margaret’s Church, in Pearl River, NY. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
