John J Scannell

John J Scannell a former resident of the Woodlawn section of the Bronx, passed away on Tuesday September 20, 2022.  He was 69. 

John worked as an air conditioning and refrigeration specialist, a chef, and general contractor.    

John was born December 19, 1952 in New York City to Jeremiah and Alice McHugh Scannell.  He was educated in the Bronx and graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine.  

John earned a degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and took classes at the CIA.  He served in the New York National Guard from 1969-1975.  Mr. Scannell will be membered for his sense of humor, love of friends, family, dogs and the Yankees.

He is survived by his sister, Alice Connolly and brother-in-law, Tom Connolly of Pearl River, NY; nieces, Catherine Innes, Meaghan Hurley and her sons, James and Sean. 

John is predeceased by his parents, Jeremiah Scannell (1988) and Alice Scannell (2004). 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Monday September 26, 2022 at St. Aedan R.C. Church Pearl River.  Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Hawthorne, NY. 

Visiting will be held from 3 to 6 PM Sunday, September 25, 2002 at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.  100 Franklin Ave. Pearl River, NY. 

In lieu of flowers may make a memorial donation in John’s name to your local animal shelter.
