John Roche

John Roche of Pearl River, NY died peacefully at home on June 20th 2021, surrounded by loving family.

John was born at home on February 14, 1952 in Foxford, County Mayo, Ireland to Patrick and Annie Roche.  John was one of 9 children, and left Ireland at the age of 16 on May 8th 1968 where he immigrated to England and 2 years later to the Bronx, NY.  John lived in Pearl River for the past 2 years, and before that he lived in Stony Point, NY from 1986 to 2019 and Hackensack, NJ from 1978 to 1986. 

John was a devoted, loving husband of 44 years to Ann, and an adoring father of their children; Sean, Aiden, Erin and Glen, as well as an honored grandfather of 6; Ava, Adelynn, Emma, CJ, John and Sydney. 

He worked as a Foreman with the Sandhog of Local 147 for 49 years.   

Locally he was a member of the Rockland Irish American Cultural Center, Rockland Gaelic Athletic Association, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and for many years was a member of the St Joseph Football club in NJ. 

John will be deeply missed by all whose lives he has touched throughout his journey on this earth. He will be fondly remembered for his witty sense of humor, positive attitude, love of Irish culture (set and social dancing) Irish Country music and most importantly his family. 

As everyone who knew him knows, he was a gentleman first.  He would sing an occasional song, share a corny joke or two, could fix anything, and always gave respect to others and received it back ten fold. 

John is survived by his loving wife, Ann; sons, Sean (Erica), Aiden and Glen (Lauren); daughter Erin (Chris); brothers, Paddy (Terry), Gerald (Annette), Simon (Olive); sisters, Margaret (Huey), Nora (John), Pauline (Tim) and Eileen; grandchildren, Ava, Adelynn, Emma, CJ, John and Sydney; nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors & friends.

John is predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Annie, brother Michael and brother-in-law Paddy Moynihan.

Thank you to all of you who have offered so many prayers and so much support to John and his family during his difficult battle with Pancreatic Cancer. 
 

Calling hours are 2pm – 4pm and 6pm - 9pm on Thursday 6/24/2021 at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home located at 100 Franklin Ave, Pearl River, NY 10965.

The Funeral will be held on Friday 6/25/2021 at 10am at St. Aedan’s Catholic Church at 23 Reld Drive, Pearl River, NY 10965 with burial to follow at St Anthony’s Cemetery.
