John O’Donnell of Pearl River NY, passed away on January 6, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. John was born on September 7, 1939 in Manhattan, NY to the late Edwin and Alice O’Donnell. He graduated from Bishop Dubois HS in 1957 and was a member of the Local 30 Operating Engineers union for over 30 years, working in operations and maintenance at the New York Coliseum in NYC and Blue Hill Plaza in Pearl River. He was a communicant of St. Aedan’s Parish and had a love for photography, visits to Pittston PA, amateur radio (N2LFE), and Irish music.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margaret, and his sons Sean (Peggy Anne) O’Donnell and Ciaran O’Donnell. John is the cherished grandfather “Pa” of Kayleigh O’Donnell, Maeve O’Donnell, and Madison O’Donnell. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Rameizl, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at United Hospice of Rockland, along with aides James, Marvin and Kevin for the care and compassion given to John.
Calling hours will be held on January 10, 2022 from 4 to 7 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Ave, Pearl River, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 11, 2022 at 10 am at St. Aedan’s Church, 23 Reld Drive, Pearl River, NY.
