Janet Kopac

Janet Kopac of Blauvelt, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She was 83. 

Mrs. Kopac was born May 28, 1941, to Harold Chaize and Frances McManus. She was educated in Tappan, NY, and graduated from Nyack High School.   

Janet worked for St. Thomas Aquinas College for 30 years, where she valued her relationships with the students, staff, and faculty. She has remained friends with many of them since her retirement. Before working at St. Thomas, she was a bank teller at Marine Midland Bank.  

Janet will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, but got the most joy watching her grandchildren. Janet was an avid Mets fan and watched mostly frustrating games whenever possible. She liked to brag about receiving an A+ on a paper she wrote about Willy Mays as a grammar school student.  

She is survived by her sons, William and his wife, Susan, and Brian Kopac. She also leaves her grandchildren, Tyler and his wife, Brittany, Emily, and Alivia, two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Joseph, and her brother, Harold, and his wife, Linda Chaize.  

She is predeceased by her husband, William Kopac, brother, Robert Chaize, and sister,  Diane Chaize O.P..  

Visiting will be held at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at St. Catharine of Alexandria R.C. Church. Burial will follow at St. Catharine of Alexandria Cemetery.
