James Robertson Obituary

James Robertson passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 surrounded by family and friends. He was 94.

James “Jim” emigrated to the Bronx, NY in 1961 and has lived in Pearl River for the past 57 years and held a fierce patriotic pride for the USA.  He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He was born on August 9, 1926 and grew up in Falkland, Fife, Scotland as one of five sons to Jean and William Robertson.  James "Jim" was a WW2 Veteran of the British Army.

One of his proudest accomplishments was being a selfless and a loving husband to his wife of 67 years, Julia Robertson. They married at Invertiel Parish Church in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland in 1954.  He was a doting and loving father to two children; Fiona and her husband Antonio Moreno of Poughquag, NY, and Rhona and her husband John Grinvalds of New Port Richey, Florida.

Jim was a grandfather to Christopher Moreno and his wife Danielle of LaGrange, NY; Julia Lindert and her husband Paul of Putnam Valley, NY; and Alexandra and Amanda Grinvalds of New Port Richey, Florida.  He was also a loving great grandfather to Joseph and Arabelle Lindert; and Colton, Paige, and Grayson Moreno. He could always be heard saying ‘how did I get so lucky to not only attend the weddings of my grandchildren, but now I have great grandchildren!’

Jim worked for the New York City Transit Authority (MABSTOA) in New York City before retiring many years ago.  He often joked about the fact that being retired at the age of 55, he was retired longer than he worked for them!

Jim was one of those people that you could definitely count on throughout his lifetime.  He was filled with love, joy, kindness, and generosity in his heart.  His greatest memories in life were while traveling around the world with family, and taking his grandchildren on expeditions in his camper.

Jim was the patriarch of the Robertson Clan and was known to many neighbors and friends as 'Mr. Fix-it".  Whenever a family member, neighbor, or friend needed help, he was always there to resolve whatever situation may arise.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit.
