James Gaine Obituary

James Gaine, of Pearl River, New York, a  resident, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Nyack Hospital. He was 86.

 

Mr. Gaine worked as a bartender at the Blarney Rock in New York City, where he was employed for many years before retiring in 2006.

 

James was born in May 1939 in County Kerry, Ireland, to Thomas and Catherine Gaine. He emigrated to the United States in his teens and went on to make Pearl River his home for the past 48 years.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; his five sons, John, James, Patrick, Brendan, and Brian; his daughters-in-law, Angela, Martina, Debbie, Erin, and Trisha; his twelve grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his three sisters, Ellen, Peg, and Breda, along with many nieces and nephews in the United States, Ireland, and England.

 

Mr. Gaine was predeceased by his parents and his six brothers, John, Thomas, George, Bill, Donie, and Mike.

 

Visitation will be held at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, on Friday, May 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Aedan Roman Catholic Church, Pearl River, NY. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet.

In lieu of flowers, donations in James name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
