Mr. James L. Evers
Born March 5, 1934 to Chester and Henrietta Evers of Chicago IL
Lived in Nanuet NY for the past 58 years.
Education: BA - Hope College, Holland MI; Masters - Oberlin College, Oberlin OH
Mr. Evers was an educator who taught in both Rockland County and Hohokus, NJ. He co-founded an open education school called the Rockland Project School (RPS). The RPS school was operational from 1969 to the mid-1980’s.
He was a great asset to the Rockland County community having served as both an educator and an active participant in numerous organizations.
Mr Evers will be remembered for his positive outlook, the profound impact on the lives of his family, students, and friends, in addition to his lifelong quest for knowledge and mentorship.
Survived by his son, William, and his wife Beth of Taylors, SC, his daughter Janine of Provincetown, MA, and his daughter Carol and her husband Jim of Fort Montgomery, NY
Grandchildren: Michael, John, Briana, Thomas, Katherine and Dylan
Great Grandchildren: Brayden, Audrey, Sofia
Sisters: Phyllis, Sharon, Laurel
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Marylin and a grandson, Samuel as well as his siblings Donald, Chester, Richard and Arlene.
