Gerard (Jerry) Thomas Ryan, a longtime resident of Pearl River passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at home.
Jerry was born on November 3rd, 1943 in New York, New York to James and Claire (Moore) Ryan. In his pastime, Jerry loved to play baseball, basketball, golf, and stickball on the streets of New York City. Jerry worked for Con Edison as a gas engineer throughout Westchester County and N.Y.C. As an adult, Jerry helped to coach young athletes including both his daughter and son's teams. He was a part of the Pearl River Little League coaching staff from the mid 1980's to early 1990's. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing as a member of the Clarkstown Fish and Game Club up in Downsville, NY. Jerry would accompany his son on many trips into the woods and later onto the lakes. Jerry never seemed to catch much though, but a lot of tall tales were told!
Gerard is survived by his two children: William G. Ryan and Bronwyn C. Lakowski (Bernard Lakowski), and his loving grandson, Aden T. Lakowski, with whom he shared a love for humor and sports. He is also survived by his brother Kevin Ryan, predeceased by brothers James E. Ryan, John Ryan, and sister Maureen. Gerard was married to Maureen (Byrne) Ryan on September 12, 1970, but is now eternally joined with her again, in the hereafter.
