George Mulligan was born on August 12, 1929 in The Bronx, NY to Joseph and Gertrude Mulligan, the youngest of five children.
George’s first retirement was in 1995 from Food Emporium in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and his second retirement was from ShopRite of Pearl River after 20 years at the age of 85. When he wasn’t doing stand-up at his local diner, George kept busy watching Turner Classic Movies and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret of Antioch Church since 1995.
He is preceded in death by his wife Anne, son George “Gege”, sisters Elinor Seery and Gloria Martinez, and brothers Joseph “Sonny” Mulligan and Gerald “Jerry” Mulligan. George is survived by his son Charles “Chuck” (wife Dana), grandchildren Erica (fiancé Bobby) and Corey (wife Cindy), and great-grandson Chase.
There will be a Visitation for George on Sunday, February 4th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral home in Pearl River, NY. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, 10:00 AM February 5th at St. Margaret of Antioch Church in Pearl River, NY, followed by a funeral procession to Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
