Geoffrey Heanue Obituary

Geoffrey Heanue of Pearl River, NY, passed away on May 2, 2025. He was 81.
Geoff was a Lieutenant for the New York City Police Department. He served for 27 years and retired in 1995 from the Communications Division at 1 Police Plaza.
Geoff was born on January 10, 1944, in Renvyle County, Galway, Ireland, to Geoffrey and Margaret Heanue. He was a graduate of Fordham University.
He was proud to serve in the United States Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class after two years of active duty in Germany and 18 years in the Army reserves.
A lifelong lover of sports, Geoff played various sports throughout his life, including Gaelic football with the Connemara Gaels and club soccer on Sundays. Later in life, he picked up a love for golf. He was an active member of the Gaelic Golf Club and enjoyed spending his days having laughs with his friends on the golf course.
His greatest joy was helping raise his granddaughter, Lily, and influencing her to share his love of golf and showing, by example, an unwavering commitment and love of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pauline, son Geoffrey, daughter Michelle, son-in-law Jeffrey Liss, granddaughter Lily, sister Nuala Jennings, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers John Joe, Anthony, and Gerry, and his sisters Kathleen, Patricia, and Noreen.
Donations may be made in Geoff’s name to Tunnel to Towers in lieu of flowers.
