Francis (Frank) John Aiello, 81, of Pearl River, NY passed away on Saturday, November 23rd surrounded by loved ones at Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack, NY. He was a resident of Pearl River for more than 54 years.
Frank was born April 23,1943 in Bronx, NY to Vincent and Marie (Masiello) Aiello and brother to the late Michael Masiello.
He was married to his beloved high school sweetheart, Joan Timmons on August 20,1966 at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in the Bronx. They were married for 49 years before Joan’s passing in 2016.
He graduated high school at St Charles Academy in Rhode Island and then worked at Con Edison. He also was an active member of the US Army National Guard.
His primary career was as a proud member of the NYC Police Department where he began as a Transit Police officer and continued to grow in various positions during his 21 years of service until his retirement in 1988 as Detective with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Frank enjoyed his retirement years spending time with his many passions and terrific group of friends including his love of golf, part-time residence with Joan in Myrtle Beach, SC and traveling many places in the world with Joan, enjoying watching his grandsons play many sports, swimming and reading his books at his swim club, and weekly dinner with his daughter Jennifer.
He was an active member of St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church in Pearl River and loved his time socializing with close friends at both The American Legion and Ancient Order of Hibernians in Pearl River.
He is survived by his daughter Dawn Bongiovanni and son-in-law Thomas (TJ) of Congers, NY; daughter Jennifer Aiello of Nanuet, NY; grandsons Jack and Brian Bongiovanni; sister-in-law Cecila Zagroba of Warwick, NY; Philip and Rachel Cioffi of Hamburg, NJ; Vincent and Andrea Cea of Myrtle Beach, SC; and many nieces, nephews and close long-time friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10am on Tuesday, December 3rd at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, Pearl River. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet. Visiting is planned for Monday, December 2nd from 3pm - 8pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, Pearl River.
