Erin M. Riebesehl of Pearl River, NY passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 after a brief illness. She was 84 years old.
Erin was Born April 9, 1939 in New York, NY, to Francis and Helen McMahon and enjoyed a full life that was dedicated to her loving family.
Erin was employed as an Executive Secretary at Alliance Oil Company and worked in Advertising at Rockefeller Center for many years prior to getting married.
Over the years she worked locally as a Part Time Clerk for Organizations such as Paxar Corporation, Upper Saddle River School District and NYS Department of Education (VESID).
Erin was educated at Good Shepherd Elementary School in Manhattan and The Assisium. She also studied business through secretarial classes as well as taking evening classes in her field at Fordham University.
On November 29, 1969, Erin Married Harold J. Riebesehl at St. Gabriel’s Church in Riverdale, NY. They moved to Pearl River in 1971 to raise their family where she resided for the past 52 years.
Locally, Erin was an active parishioner at St. Margaret’s Church and had great Faith in God and devotion to St. Theresa. It was through her Faith that she found strength and solace after the passing of her Son and Husband.
As a Grandparent, Erin was at her Best. She found great joy and happiness in spending time with her three Grandchildren and took great pride in them as they were the center of her world as was her two Daughters and Son-In-Law. She loved playing with her Grandchildren and attending all their School Events and Graduations. She loved watching cartoons with her youngest Grandchild and going shopping every Saturday morning at nearby Department Stores. Erin enjoyed the Holidays with her family, especially Christmas where she would always decorate with many displays. She paid great attention to detail.
Erin was a One of A Kind Mother and Loving Wife who always gave her all. She enjoyed the simple things with her Family and was always there for her Husband, Son and Daughters during the good and hard times. She always opened her door to everyone and loved to see everyone happy. This included her Son’s yearly Christmas Eve party with beloved cousins and friends and St. Patrick’s Day parties at that time. She was the epitome of Strength and Love mixed with fun and humor which created great memories to cherish.
Erin enjoyed traveling and exploring Europe and various destinations in her younger years with her family and friends. Over time, she looked forward to her yearly Shore trips with her Husband and kids with an extended tradition more currently to Wildwood and Asbury Park NJ with her daughters and grandchildren.
Erin had the “Gift of Gab” and will be fondly remembered for her friendly, outgoing personality and storytelling which usually ended in laughter. She always made new friends everywhere she went. Erin was part of the “Breakfast Club” Crew at Muddy Brook Café for many years where she would be found every morning with her dear circle of Friends which included staff and loved her Town. Erin loved to dance and enjoyed music of all sorts. She lived a full and meaningful life by living it as in the song; “My Way.”
Erin is survived by her beloved Family including her Daughter Maureen (Gallagher) her Husband Chris, and Daughter Patricia Riebesehl, her beloved Grandchildren Katie Gallagher, Patrick Gallagher and Willa Riebesehl. She is also survived by her Sister-In-Law Veronica McMahon, Brother-In-Law Frank Kealty, her loving Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews.
Erin was Pre-Deceased by her Son William and Husband Harold. She was also Pre-Deceased by her Mother Helen, her Father Francis, Sister Eileen and Brother Brian.
Erin was wonderful beyond words and will be missed immensely by her family and friends.
