Elizabeth Flynn

Elizabeth Civan-Flynn of Nanuet, New York tragically passed away on Monday, July 7th 2025 after a courageous battle with illness. She was 65 years old. 

Elizabeth and her twin sister, Karmen, were born June 21st 1960 in Istanbul, Turkey, to Harry and Zaruhi Civan. The Civan’s travels took them across the globe before finally settling down in Fort Lee, New Jersey, where Liz and Karmen were raised. She graduated from Syracuse University in 1982, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.  Elizabeth started out a career in commercial marketing and advertising, followed by a second career as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. For the past 35 years, Elizabeth resided in Nanuet, New York.

Elizabeth loved vacationing to Boca Raton, tanning on the beach and swimming in the ocean, going out to eat with friends and family, and watching all things on television – movies on AMC and TCM, the Mets and UConn basketball, Jeopardy with her sons, and of course, her favorite shows on Bravo.

Elizabeth will be remembered for her vivacious personality, her stylishness, her uncanny sense of memory (known for never forgetting a birthday), her enthralling sense of humor, her remarkable ability to light up a room, and her all around kindness and generosity. Most importantly, she will be remembered for being the best mother anyone could ever ask for.

She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Flynn (Dashel) of Nanuet, NY and Christopher Flynn (Telsey) of Pearl River, NY; her many amazing friends; and her loving family and in-laws. She was predeceased by her doting parents and her beloved twin sister, Karmen. We take solace in knowing she is reunited with those that she missed dearly. 

Calling hours are 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, July 10th at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, New York. The funeral is Friday, July 11th at 10:30am at St. Leon Armenian Apostolic Church in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.
