Elizabeth DeMartino Obituary

As far back as she could remember, Elizabeth Alva De Martino (Née Vogel), always dreamt of being a mother. She loved working with and being surrounded by children. She began her career at St. Mary's Hospital in Bayside, Queens as a nurse, caring for some of NYC's most debilitated children.

After welcoming two children of her own in 1988 and 1993 with her husband, she went back to school to become a Teaching Assistant. She brightened the days of students at Bardonia Elementary School, where she was known affectionately as "Mrs. D".

Elizabeth prioritized her family, loving them unconditionally and without limit- yet she still had kindness and generosity to spare for everyone.  Family, friends and co-workers would often ask "how are you always so happy, are you really?" and if they knew her long enough they understood, in no uncertain whimsical terms: "of Corsica", that's just how she was made.

Elizabeth passed away peacefully in bed on September 2, 2025, being held tightly by loved ones.

She is survived by her loving family: husband Robert, son Peter, daughter Hannah and grandson August as well as her brother Robert and sister Patricia
