Earl S. Williams, 96, of Nyack, passed away on August 21, 2022 in the comfort of his home and the care of his family.
Born in 1925 in Biddeford, ME to James Williams and Elizabeth (McGarity) Williams, he is survived by his wife, Margaret and a son, Christopher, daughters Martha (Tom), Jennie and Amanda (Jim) and his grandchildren Owen and Michael Campbell and Connor and James Williams.
He had a passionate love for the written and spoken word and was a voracious reader. Earl was English Chairman in East Ramapo School District, teaching at Kakiat and then Spring Valley Junior High for 30 years.
Earl loved time with his family, a good conversation, a chance to dance and laugh and the company of his beloved Margaret. He also nurtured a love of travel that started when he served in the US Army and was sent to Japan as part of the occupation.
He served as former President of the Dickens Fellowship, and after retiring from teaching became a Master Gardner, cultivating extensive gardens at his home in Pearl River and at the home of his daughter in West Nyack.
He was a true renaissance man and gentle soul.
The wake will be held at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River on Wednesday, Aug 24 from 4 - 7 PM. A funeral mass will be said on Thursday, Aug 25, at 11:15 am at the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ.
