Douglas Lambert, Jr., 80, of Butler, New
Jersey, passed away peacefully on
September 25, 2025, surrounded by his
loving family.
Born on December 12, 1944, in Geneva,
Nebraska, Doug lived a life grounded in
love, faith, and dedication to his family
and community. He began his academic
journey at Rockland Community College
(RCC), where he met the love of his life,
Ellen Kavalla, in 1962. Their love story
blossomed into a 58-year marriage filled
with joy, partnership, and enduring
c o m m i t m e n t .
Doug went on to graduate from Fairleigh
Dickinson University with a degree in
Business. He enjoyed a long and
successful career with Verizon, retiring
after 32 years of dedicated service. In
retirement, he found fulfillment working as
a substitute teacher at Suffern High
School, where he inspired students with
his energy, kindness, and sense of humor.
In 1989, Doug embraced the Catholic faith
and b e c a m e a devoted parishioner of
Sacred Heart Church, where he found
spiritual strength and a supportive
community.
Doug had a deep passion for life's simple
pleasures. He was a loyal New York
Yankees and NASCAR fan, and proudly
coached and supported his children in
countless s p o r t s a n d school activities. He
found joy in fishing, playing tennis, ping
pong, and spending cherished time at the
family's vacation home in The Hideout,
Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania.
He was an avid reader and history buff,
especially interested in World War II
history, and he had a lifelong love of
music, particularly rock and roll.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen
Kavalla Lambert, and their four children:
• Stephanie DeRosa and husband Mike
• Suzanne Ruckel and husband Raymond
• Carolyn DeTorres and husband George
• Kenneth L a m b e r t a n d wife Erin
He was the proud grandfather of Michael,
Megan, Stephen, Jennifer, Raymond,
Brooke, RJ, Christian, George Jr., and
Sadie, and a loving great-grandfather to
three great-grandchildren.
Doug is also survived by his sister Cindy
Siegel (Bob), sister-in-law Karen Lambert,
and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents,
Douglas Sr. and Irma Lambert, and his
brothers Greg and Mike Lambert.
The Lambert family extends heartfelt
thanks to Keisha, Doug's caring and
compassionate nurse over the past five
months, whose support brought comfort
to him and his family.
Doug's legacy is one of unwavering love,
devotion, and kindness. He will be deeply
m i s s e d a n d f o r e v e r r e m e m b e r e d f o r h i s
warm heart, his humor, and his dedication
t o t h o s e h e loved m o s t .
