In Loving Memory of Dorothy Veronica Loffredo
January 2, 1933 – May 29, 2026
Dorothy Veronica Loffredo, of Orangeburg and Goshen, New York, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family following complications from a fall.
Born on January 2, 1933, in the Bronx, New York, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of Biagio and Frances Latorre. She graduated from Our Lady of Solace in 1948 and devoted her life to her family, friends, faith, and community. After a long courtship, beginning in her teenage years through the Great Depression, Richard’s collegiate years and US Army tour, they married in 1954.
Dorothy raised her children in Goshen, New York, where she became known for her kindness, warmth, humor, and generosity. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide in the Goshen Central School District and later served the Orange County Board of Elections as a Clerk. Through her work and volunteer involvement, she touched countless lives.
In retirement, Dorothy and her husband Richard moved to Sun City, South Carolina, where they enjoyed an active social life and formed many cherished friendships. Dorothy's hospitality and gift for conversation made everyone feel welcome.
As Dad's health declined, they made their final move to Brightview Lake Tappan in Orangeburg, New York, to be closer to family. There, Dorothy remained a devoted partner and caregiver while embracing the community around her and cultivating many cherished friendships. This chapter of their lives was defined by warmth, companionship, and an active engagement with those who enriched their days.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, caregiving, and spending time with loved ones. During Richard’s struggle with dementia, she cared for him with remarkable devotion and grace.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She shared 67 years of marriage with her beloved husband Richard. Her greatest joy was her family, and she will be remembered for her wisdom, compassion, and ability to bring laughter to those around her.
