Dorothy Boera Obituary

Dorothy Kerins Boera, 76 of Pearl River, New York, died peacefully on Sunday January 24, 2021 with her loving  family by her side.  Born to Hugh and Dorothy Kerins on October 18, 1944, Dorothy grew up in Woodlawn New York surrounded by her ten siblings and family and friends.  Dorothy later settled in Pearl River with her husband Bill to raise their three children.

A graduate of Notre Dame School and Dominican College, Dorothy was a registered nurse at the Bronx Veterans Administration Hospital for 33 faithful years.  She had the most striking blue eyes from her mother.  Dorothy took pride in her Swedish heritage on her mother’s side.  Dorothy was a lover of reading, having tea and spending quality time with her five grandchildren.  She was gentle, kind and easy to talk to.  Dorothy cherished her alone time where she was free to go where she wanted, read a new book and take her grandchildren shopping.  Dorothy enjoyed spending summers down the shore in Belmar.   She traveled the country and the world visiting the Caribbean, Italy and France.  She spoke French while in France to her family’s delight.  She took great pride making her “schetties and meatballs” every Monday night without fail for her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Bill of what would have been 50 years this June, her heartbroken children and their spouses; Bill (Catherine), Edward (Mindy) and Cathryn (Daniel), her five grandchildren Reagan, Liam, Madison, Jacquelyn and Celestino upon whom her indelible mark is evident as well as her siblings; Hughie, Jeanne Ann, Marybeth, Patty, Sean and Alice. Dorothy is predeceased by her first baby and her four brothers; Stephen, Edwin, Paul and Kevin.  Dorothy’s tea kettle is eternally on for a hot cup of tea and a treat; one for each hand.
