Donna LaPoma Obituary

Donna Lee LaPoma (Smith), a lifelong resident of Pearl River, New York, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026, at the age of 62.

Donna was born on October 1, 1963, in Nyack, New York, to Dennis and Margaret Smith. She graduated from Pearl River High School in 1981 and earned her Associate's Degree from Dominican College in Blauvelt, New York.

Donna met the love of her life, Nick, in February 1988, and they were married on March 3, 1990. Together, they built a beautiful life in Pearl River, where they raised their three children and created a close-knit family filled with love and cherished memories.

Donna spent the early part of her career with Glass Gardens, where she worked for 27 years. She later joined Dominican College, serving in the Registrar's Office from 2007 to 2019. Since 2011, she proudly served as President of Hudson Machinery.

Above all else, Donna's greatest role was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a great friend. She was always there for those around her. Kind-hearted and generous, she celebrated every milestone, offered a listening ear, and provided a shoulder to lean on whenever someone needed her. She had a gift for making people feel cared for, and she touched countless lives through her quiet acts of kindness.

Some of Donna's happiest memories were made at her family's beach house in Cape May, New Jersey. Whether it was a holiday gathering or simply a weekend down the shore, that special place was filled with laughter, love, and treasured moments that her family will carry with them forever.

Donna was predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Margaret Smith.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Nick; her three children, Rachel (Chris), Anthony (Erin), and Michael (Megan); and her cherished granddaughters, Lyla LaPoma, born in 2024, and Sophia Cipolli, born in 2025. She is also survived by her brother, Rick (Cathy); her nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the many loving members of her husband's family, who all held a special place in her heart.

The LaPoma family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone who checked in on Donna, supported her throughout the years, and offered comfort during her journey. Your kindness and compassion meant more than words can express.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Donna's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or United Hospice of Rockland.
