Donald Wells Marlette (nee Marlatt) of Nanuet passed away November 15, 2020 at the age of 84. Don was born to Howard and Anna Marlatt in Honesdale, PA. Raised in Middletown, NY, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Adelphi University. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Jennie, his sons, Jason (Danya) and Thomas, grandson Grayson, sister Barbara Kalbaugh, his niece and nephews, and a multitude of close friends. He worked for the American Institute of Physics until his retirement in 1998. However, Don’s passion in life was always acting. He was affiliated with HB Studio in New York City, most of his life performing in plays, readings, taking acting classes, and mentoring students. His final performance was the eponymous role in Bertolt Brecht’s Mr. Puntila and his Man Matti. In the wake of his loss, condolences have often been followed by “Don was the best”. And indeed, Don was the best--the best husband, the best friend and, above all, the best father. For his family, nothing was ever an inconvenience or too much to ask. When he was needed, he was there--always. Don was full of appreciation for life and all those in it. His boisterous laugh was outmatched only by his joyous, loving heart. He had a mild and gentle temperament, paired with a sharp, quick-witted mind. He will be sorely missed by all. In light of Covid-19, the family has chosen to do a memorial service at a later date. In remembrance of Don’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to HB Studio (https://hbstudio.org/giving/make-a-donation/)
