Donald DeNoyelles Obituary

Mr. Donald D. DeNoyelles of Pearl River, NY, passed away peacefully at Nyack Hospital on May 20, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He was 88.

Mr. DeNoyelles worked as an Operating Engineer for Local 825 International Union of Operating Engineers, Springfield, NJ. He was a life member with more than 50 years in the union.

Born in Central Nyack on Aug. 3, 1936, he was the son of Martin J. DeNoyelles Sr. and Jane Babcock DeNoyelles. He grew up in Central Nyack and graduated in 1955 from Nyack High School. His family moved in 1947 to Valley Cottage, where he lived until 1964.

Mr. DeNoyelles served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961, including 21 memorable months in France. A member of the American Legion, Mr. DeNoyelles was also a 66-year life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, starting at Pearl River Lodge 2041 and ending with Park Ridge, NJ Lodge 2234. The Historical Society of Rockland County also counted Mr. DeNoyelles among its members since 1972.

On June 20, 1964, he married Carole Anne Carpentier at St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Congers, NY. They made their home in Congers until 1967, when they moved to Pearl River.

Mr. DeNoyelles is survived by three daughters, Diane Nawoschik and husband, Rob, of Bloomingburg, NY; Jane Anderson of Greenwood Lake, NY; and Carolyn Freedman and husband, Henry, of New City; grandchildren, Douglas Nawoschik of Bloomingburg, Allison Nawoschik and partner Seth of Savannah, GA, Ellen Anderson of Monroe, Martin Anderson and Thomas Anderson of Greenwood Lake, and Matthew Freedman of New City; son-in-law Jim Anderson, of Monroe, NY; and beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carole Anne, to whom he was married for 49 years; his parents; sister, Cecelia R. DeNoyelles; and brothers Martin J. DeNoyelles Jr., William R. DeNoyelles, Lawrence E. DeNoyelles, Thomas K. DeNoyelles, and Joseph G. DeNoyelles.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 28, with a graveside service to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack.
