Diane Saunders

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Diane Saunders, 71, of Sparkill NY.  Diane was a former long-time resident of Pearl River NY and she died peacefully in the presence of family on 9/9/2020 at Nyack Hospital. 

She was born on December 13th, 1948 in Bronx, NY to Alfred and Mildred Wakefield.  She had a wonderful childhood growing up with her older sister, Janice, and twin brother Al.  She graduated from Preston High School and moved to Rockland County in 1967. 

Diane will be remembered for being a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who sacrificed so much to help provide opportunities for the ones she loved.  She taught us all what unconditional love is all about and devoted much of her life to her family and friends.  Her toughness and grit left their mark on each one of hearts. 

She is survived by her loving son, Scott (Kelley) Saunders, her sister Janice (Wayne) Asaro, sister-in-law Louise Wakefield, nephews Robert (Maria) Murray, Keith Wakefield, and Michael (Vanessa) Wakefield, and her two grandchildren Jack and Kendall. 

Diane is pre-deceased by her parents Alfred and Mildred, her twin brother Alfred Wakefield, and her nephew Thomas Murray.

Services will be held privately for immediate family members.
