Diane McCarthy

Diane McCarthy, 88, of Pearl River New York passed away on January 28, 2024. Born on January 3, 1936 in Bronx NY, "Dee" enjoyed a life that was dedicated to her large and loving family.

Diane was pre-deceased by her husband Austin, who together moved to Pearl River, NY in 1970 to raise their family. While in Pearl River her family grew as she devoted herself to creating a nurturing and loving home.

As her family matured, Diane cultivated her inclination to help others as she pursued a career and thrived as a nurse at Nyack Hospital, positively impacting other families with her compassionate and caring spirit.

Diane is survived by so many who were blessed to know her, including her son John, his wife Patricia (Holland) and daughter Emma, her daughter Patricia, her husband Bill Voigt and their four children, Caroline, Kaylie, Colleen and Patrick, and her daughter Eileen, her husband Kevin Houston, and children Brielle, Jack, Katreana and Kieran.

In addition to Austin, Diane was pre-deceased by her brothers Jack and Danny Ryan, and her children Austin, Diane, Terry and Kathleen, and son-in-law John Bellew all who no doubt welcomed her home with open arms.

As a grandparent, Grandma Dee was at her best. A fully engaged and loving participant in the lives of her nine grandchildren, Dee always brought a smile to her grandchildren's faces every time they saw her.

When she was not serving and supporting others, Diane loved to tend to her garden, gaining her Master Gardener certification, Diane continued to lean into her tendency to nurture and develop everything around her. Being a gardener allowed her to see and develop beauty in all parts of her life. Her kind spirit, appreciation of humor and the warm smile she carried always made good company that will be missed by all who were blessed to be around her.

Diane was wonderful beyond words and the sadness of her passing, experienced by the many that loved her, is a tribute to the impact she had on everyone she met.

Diane will be remembered and celebrated on Thursday February 1 at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River. Her funeral is on Friday February 2 at St. Aedan's Catholic Church in Pearl River, followed by her internment at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet.
