Christopher Murphy of Valley Cottage, NY, formerly of Pearl River, NY, passed away on February 22, 2025, at Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, NJ. He was 66.
Mr. Murphy worked as a deli clerk for various supermarkets, most recently at Wegmans in Montvale, NJ, retiring in 2020.
Chris was born to Thomas and Dorothy McCaffrey Murphy on August 7, 1958, in Manhattan, NY. He was educated in Pearl River and graduated from Pearl River High School in 1976. He earned an Associate's degree in Computer Engineering from DeVry University in the early 2000s.
Locally, he was an accomplished musician as a founding member of the Muddy Creek Southern Rock Band. He collaborated with many high-profile musicians, occasionally jamming with artists such as Bernie Williams and other professional guitarists at Daryl's Place in Pawling, NY, and clubs in New York City.
Mr. Murphy loved his family and friends and will be missed. Chris was a true believer in Christ.
He is survived by his siblings Mary Murphy of Valley Cottage, Noreen Maine (Jim) of Nassau, NY, and Eugene Murphy (Nancy) of Newburgh, NY. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Murphy (2004), mother Dorothy (2004), and brother Thomas (2020).
