Carole Neumann

Carole Neumann (nee Tracey), 77, passed away on August 30, 2022.  Carole was a long-time resident of Tappan, living there with her husband of 45 years, Robert, and their daughter Sarah.    

Carole was born on January 2, 1945, in Elmhurst, NY to Jack Tracey and Carmela Tracey (nee Telesca).  She moved to Manhattan in 1973, and then to Tappan in Rockland County in 1979, where she remained with her family until her passing.

Carole began working as an IT professional in 1966 after graduating from St. Joseph’s College that same year with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Chemistry/Physics.  In 1968 she was an MS Candidate at New York University studying Computer Science, a newly formed academic discipline.  She worked for several Fortune 500 companies in and around the NYC area.  

Carole was an active volunteer within the South Orangetown School District and the PTA; organizing Reading is Fundamental (RIF) programs, volunteering in the computer classrooms at William O. Schaefer Elementary School and on academic committees in South Orangetown Middle School and Tappan Zee High School.  Later in life, Carole volunteered as an election poll worker for over 10 years.

Carole will be remembered for her kindness, her love of books and reading, her love of good conversation and deep devotion to her family. 

She is survived by her husband Robert, daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Tim Stewart and her granddaughters Molly and Kiera as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

A memorial visitation and service will be held at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral home on Saturday, September 10, from 2-6pm.
