Bridget “Bridie” Ryan–loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother–died peacefully on October 26, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. Above all, Bridie adored her family and leaves behind her husband of 59 years, James, her four children–Joan, Seamus (Monica), Margaret (John), and Noreen (Chris); her loving grandchildren–Christopher Augello (Shannon), Patrick Betts (Mardeline), Megan Veirun, Dillon Betts, Brendan Ryan, Katie Ryan, Shane Veirun, Maggie Ryan, Christopher Gazzale, Liam Veirun, Caitlin Gazzale, Aidan Veirun, and Jack Gazzale; her beautiful great-grandchildren–Killian, Kayleigh, and Keira Augello; her sister Joan Faughey, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bridie was born in Scartaglen, Co. Kerry, Ireland to the late Cornelius and Hanna Kerins. She cherished her parents and spoke of them often. Bridie came to America in 1960 and started working in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where she married James in 1963.
Bridie spent her early years raising her family in Richmond Hill and later became a caregiver to the Hanlon children whom she still remained connected to. In 1999, Bridie and James relocated to Pearl River, NY. Bridie enjoyed working at the Pearl River Middle School for the last 15 years and developed treasured friendships with many of her coworkers.
She will be remembered as the loving center of her family, avid gardener, caretaker of any stray cat that came her way, and always offering everyone she encountered a cup of tea and cookies.
