Bridget Theresa Reilly of Pearl River, New York, formerly of the Bronx, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12th, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old.
Bridget was born on August 16, 1934, to Timothy McAuliffe and Mary Broderick in County Kerry, Ireland.
On April 7, 1956, Bridget married the love of her life, Thomas Reilly, at St. Luke’s Parish in the Bronx. Together, they shared many devoted years of marriage until Thomas’s passing in January 2019.
Bridget was an unbelievable mother and the heart of her family. She was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren and lived her life firmly rooted in her Catholic faith. A woman of prayer, she faithfully said her novenas, kept her prayer cards close at hand, and filled her home with rosary beads. Her faith guided her daily life and was a source of comfort and strength. Bridget was also a devoted aunt to all her nieces and nephews, whom she cared for and loved like her own.
She cherished simple pleasures, enjoying tea with friends at Dunkin’ Donuts, listening to Irish music on Sundays, and Irish dancing, which always brought a smile to her face. Coming from humble beginnings, Bridget was grateful for her life in America. She emigrated to the United States at age 17 with her 14-year-old sister, determined to build a better future. Through hard work, faith, and love, she built a beautiful life and remained deeply proud of and grateful for this country.
Bridget is survived by her beloved children: her son, Michael Reilly, and his wife, Roseanne; her daughters, Theresa Reilly-Gallagher and her husband, James, and Maureen Reilly-Pieretti and her husband, George. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Danny Pieretti, Megan Gallagher-Roche, Lauren Gallagher, Cara Pieretti, and Roisin Reilly. She is also survived by her sisters Rita Farrell and Frances Carroll.
She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Reilly; her cherished granddaughter, Caitlin Pieretti, who passed away in 2015; and her sisters, Mary Joe O’Connor, Sheila Sullivan, and Eileen Ciullo.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Wyman Fisher Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday at St. Aedan R.C.
