Anthony L. Fusco, 94 years of age, died on February 28, 2021 at his residence in Saddle River, NJ with his daughter, Andrea, by his side. Mr. Fusco was born in NYC in September 1926 to Gennaro and Felicia Fusco, the second of 4 sons. His brothers, Frank and Mario, predeceased Mr. Fusco, leaving his surviving brother, Pete.
Mr. Fusco proudly joined the US Navy in 1944 at the age of 17 during the height of WWII as a Flight Engineer on the USS Kearsarge. He was called back to duty to serve in the Korean conflict. He continued to serve in the Air Force as an Aircraft Technician and serving as the inspector for the SAM fleet and Presidential aircraft.
In civilian life, Mr. Fusco became a Defense Contractor with the US Department of Defense in the Defense Logistics Agency. He proudly worked there for 37 years. Mr. Fusco was proud to be part of his local community in Jackson Heights, NY, coaching for the local Elmjack Little League for 25 years and CYO for 4 years. He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima RC Church from its inception until he moved away in 1990. He was also a member of the local Democratic Club.
When Mr. Fusco retired, he became an active volunteer member of SCORE. Mr. Fusco moved up to Owego NY in 1990 where he continued his volunteer work.
Mr. Fusco is survived by 6 children, Andrea Fusco (Dan Ingalls) of Pearl River, NY, Gennaro Fusco (Nancy) of Nesconset, NY, Anthony Fusco (Joanne) of Massapequa, NY, Carol Thornley of Apalachian, NY, Steve Fusco (Kathleen) of Huntington, NY, and Felicia Walsh of Apalachian, NY.
He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Jillian Boyatsis, Briana, Geno, Nicholas AJ, Samantha and Giana Fusco, Elise Thornley, Caraline Gonzalez, Amanda Liebman, Michael, Richard, and Douglas Walsh, and 6 Great grandchildren. He is loved by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Viewing for Mr. Fusco will be held at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River, NY 10965 on Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. His funeral will be held at the Church of St. Aedan, 23 S Reld Dr, Pearl River, NY 10965 on Saturday at 10:00 AM. We ask anyone who attends to abide by social distancing guidelines.
