Anne Horan Obituary

Anne Helen Horan (nee Seeney), 95 of Nanuet, NY passed away peacefully at Woodcliff Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 just three days shy of her 96th birthday.
Anne was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 6, 1924 to Harold and Helen (nee Sweeney) Seeney.  She was the oldest of three children.  Anne was raised in the Convent of Mercy in Brooklyn, NY.
On May 29, 1949, she married Thomas Horan at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Brooklyn.  She and Tom lived in Pearl River, NY for many years before retiring to Grandpa’s Woods in Tafton, PA.  After Tom’s passing, Anne returned to Rockland County to live in Seton Village.
Anne spent most of her holiday dinners with her nephews, Gary and his family in Pearl River.  She especially loved spending time with her grandnephews, Patrick and Kevin.  They always found her stories insightful and amusing.
Her family would like to thank Sr. Eileen Walsh for always taking such good care of Anne at Seton Village.  She also loved going to New City Seniors on Thursdays and was so grateful to Sr. Patricia Mulryan (deceased) for driving her to the meetings.  The family also wants to thank the nurses and staff at Woodcliff Lake (especially Michelle Marceca) for their dedicated care.
Anne always said that she started her life in the care of the nuns (Sisters of Mercy) and wanted to end her days at Seton Village with the Sisters of Charity.
Anne was an avid QVC watcher and always enjoyed a slice of Entenmann’s cake.
She is survived by her nephews and nieces, Harry (Peggy), Gary (Colleen), Joseph (Michele), Mary Ann (Anthony), Liz, Kathleen (Larry) and Kenneth (Janet) and many grandnieces and grandnephews.  Also survived by her “special family” friends, Elizabeth Hassler and Maureen Reiser.  She is predeceased by her husband, Tom; brothers, Harold and Gerard and sister-in-law, Florence whom she shared her formative years with at the Convent of Mercy.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Saturday,  November 14, 2020 at St. Aedan R. C. Church, Pearl River.  She will be buried at a later date in Queen of Peace Cemetery, in Hawley, PA.
The family is requesting that memorial donations  be made to the Sisters of Charity of New York, 6301 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY 10471.
