In loving memory of Alexander N. Mason.

Al was a devoted husband for 64 years to his loving wife Beatrice Mason, in addition to being a loving father of his daughter, Theresa Mason and son, James Mason of Pearl River, NY. Al was known for being a proud Irishman who loved hunting and spending time with friends and family. Al passed away surrounded by the love of his family on November 12, 2023. 

Al served with honor in the U.S. Navy exemplifying dedication and bravery throughout his service from October 31,1955 - October 31,1961 on the U.S.S. Purdy (DD734). His son, James, went on to follow his father’s footsteps serving the U.S. Navy as well, from 1984 -1990. 

Born with a heart full of Irish spirit, Al cherished his roots and shared his unquestionable love with those around him. His devotion to his family was unparalleled, leaving an undeniable mark on the lives of his beloved children. Later to leave an even larger mark of love on his grandchildren; Dean Lavecchia, Lauren Lavecchia, Nicole Mason-McMeans, James Mason, and Samantha Mason. Not only was Al an incredible father and grandfather, his greatest love and devotion came in the form as a husband to Beatrice Mason. Together, Al and Bea created a home filled with warmth, laughter, unwavering support, endless card games with his family, and the aroma of his famous Sunday meatballs. 

Al’s legacy extends beyond his military services and his love for this Irish heritage. His enduring love and commitment to family will be forever remembered with fondness. The lessons of strength and love he imparted with us all will resonate for generations to come. 

In this time of grief, let us celebrate the rich experience of a life well-lived, and honor the memory of an admirable man, Alexander N. Mason. Al’s infectious smile, laughter, and love will live on forever. Join us in celebrating the life of Al at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 3:00PM to 7:00PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, 11:00AM at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Ehrhardt Road, Pearl River.
