Marguerite Dorothy Vatter of Pearl River, passed suddenly on December 20, 2019 surrounded by the people she loved most in this world.
Mrs. Vatter was born in the Bronx to Charles and Dorothy Hahn on July 24, 1935, where she lived for her early life. In her beloved Bronx, she met the man who would become her soulmate and confidant for over sixty-one years. On October 11, 1958, she married Robert H. Vatter at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Their love story is the one that everyone aspires to have one day.
Mrs. Vatter was a woman of strong faith and was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River.
Mrs. Vatter’s biggest joys were her family and helping others. She also enjoyed vacations and traveled extensively in the US and visited forty countries.
Mrs. Vatter is survived by her beloved husband, Robert H. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy. She is additionally survived by her son, Robert Q and her daughter-in-law, Eileen of Pearl River. Mrs. Vatter is survived by her three grandchildren and two bonus grandchildren: Robert W and Cai of Boston, Kaitlyn of New York City, and Chris and Meghan of Monmouth Beach. The grandchildren will miss their daily calls with their Grandma about anything and everything. Finally, she is survived by many other family members and friends who loved her.
Calling hours are Sunday, December 22 from 2-5pm and Monday, December 23 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River.
A Celebration of Life will happen at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Pearl River on January 4, 2020 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Shepherd Fund or Dominican College of Blauvelt.
