Margaret J. Comerford

Margaret J. “Rita”  Comerford of Pearl River, NY passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019.  She was 81.

Rita was born November 4, 1937 in Tullamore County. Offlay, Ireland to Christopher and Frances Clarke Gowran.

Rita was not the ordinary mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  When we think of Rita all she would want us to do was laugh and remember the happy times she brought to all who knew her. Rita never wanted any of us to be sad, she portrayed that to us right to the very end.  She kept on a smile and sang to us and worried more about us being happy than her pain or feelings.  She was a selfless mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She had the spark of life like no other, she had a personality 10 times the size of her tiny body and a heart bigger than anyone we know.  She was always a joyful happy go lucky person.  When she walked into any room it lit up like. She made every single person she knew feel so loved and special.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Michael; son,  Michael and wife Amy; daughter, Fiona Parahus and  husband, Gary; eight grandchildren, Gary, Maeve, Michael, Caroline, Connor, Lorraine, Chloe and Emma and great granddaughter, Peyton. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen Slevin and husband, Brian and  Frances and husband, Michael Byrne and sister, Betty;  brothers, Tom and wife, Ursula Gowran, Sean and Michael Gowran; brother-in -law Jimmy  Kenny and many nieces and nephews She is predeceased by her parents; sisters, Teresa  and Annie and brother, Noel Gowran.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Aedan R. C. Church, Pearl River.  Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. Visiting is Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. 
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
