Kathleen Fortescue Kavasansky

Kathleen Fortescue Kavasansky, a 30 year resident of Pearl River, NY, died peacefully Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Montefiore Medical Center. Kathleen was born March 8, 1938 to Margaret and Bartholomew O’Brien in Manhattan.

She is survived by her sons William (Katee), West Nyack, NY and James (Heather), Orangeburg, NY; grandchildren, William, Andrew, Jack, James Patrick, Madelyn and Farrell; sisters Joanne (Lawrence) McNeill, Stuart, FL. and Eileen (Joseph) Mulroe, Pearl River, NY.  She is predeceased by her husbands, William Fortescue and Andrew Kavasansky and sister Mary Stark. 

She was a member of St. Margaret of Antioch Church in Pearl River, and was dedicated to her faith and her country.  Kay enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and could often be heard bragging about both.  She was also a proud member of the “Shady Ladies” at the Nauraushaun Swim Club and enjoyed going to lunch, or dinner, and socializing with her many friends she adored throughout her life.  She was also famous for her parties during the Pearl River St Patrick’s Day Parade.  Kathleen will be long remembered for her fighting spirit.  She battled several forms of cancer, and lost two husbands along the way but she never stopped battling and continued to be a source of light and joy for all who crossed her path. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00am Friday at St. Aedan Catholic Church, Pearl River, NY. Visiting is Thursday from 3:00-8:00pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc., 100 Franklin Ave., Pearl River, NY.
