John T. Moran, a 41 year resident of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday July 10, 2019. John was born April 11,1936 in his beloved Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland, the 3rd of 9 children born to John and Elizabeth Moran. After emigrating to NY in 1958, John served 2 terms in the United States Army attaining the rank of corporal. On April 24, 1965, he married his beloved Mary (Maureen) née Richardson at the Holy Spirit Church in Bronx, NY. John worked as a truck driver for UPS for 31 years and was an active member of Teamsters Local 804. John was a member of the American Legion Post 329, the AOH Division 5, and the Irish American Cultural Center. He was an active and devoted member of St. Margaret's Parish. John will be remembered for his love and devotion to his wife, 4 daughters, and 16 grandchildren, to whom he was known as Papa. John will also be remembered for his humor, storytelling and love of Irish music. John is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen, his children Mary (John) Hartnett of Tappan, Christina (Eoin) Durcan, of Pearl River and Patricia (Mike) Gorham, of Pearl River; his grandchildren, Johnny, Caitlin, Ailish, Colleen, Hughie, Ciara, Niamh, Kevin, Timmy, Daniel, Maura, Aiden, Michael, Sean, Matthew, and Katie. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, Noreen, Phil, Joe and Lawrence and many nieces and nephews to whom he was lovingly known as Uncle Johnny. He is predeceased by his loving children John P. Moran and Catherine Duplessis, and his siblings Patrick, Marion, Vincent, and William.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday at St. Margaret R.C. Church, Pearl River. Burial will follow at Ascension cemetery. Visiting is Sunday from 2:00pm to 7:00pm at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home, Inc
