Jeremiah G. Murphy of Bronx, NY passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019. He was 83.
Mr. Murphy worked for Western Union in Manhattan for 30 years before retiring in 1986.
Jeremiah was born April 10, 1936 in Manhattan to Michael J. and Mary (Sullivan) Murphy.
He was educated at Holy Name in Manhattan and Rice High School in Harlem.
Mr. Murphy served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 attaining the rank of Private First Class. He belonged to American Legion Post 774 Kingbridge, Bronx, NY and was in the Knights of Columbus.
He will be remembered for his love to travel the world and his many trips to Ireland. He was a super family oriented generous uncle to his nieces and nephews. He had a good sense of humor, very easy going and never raised his voice.
He is survived by his brothers, John and Charles, his wife, Patricia, sister in law Collette Murphy, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Thomas, Michael Joseph and Maureen Murphy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Paul R. C. Church, Congers, NY. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Queen, NY. Visiting is Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
