Edward P. Walkley of Nanuet, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2018. He was 88.
Mr. Walkley was a plumber at Lederle Labs in Pearl River, NY. He retired as the supervisor of maintenance. He later worked at St. Agatha’s Home in Nanuet, NY.
Edward was born April 1, 1930 in Bronx, NY to Theodore and Rose (Gaetjens) Walkley. He attended Theodore Roosevelt High School.
Edward served in the United States Coast Guard from 1947 to 1952.
He married Gertrude Dempster in 1950 at St. Frances de Chantal in Bronx, NY.
Edward was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others. He genuinely cared about people.
He was a volunteer for the Nanuet Ambulance Corps for over 25 years and served as Captain for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gertrude; his sons, Edward (Beth) and Robert (Dlorah); grandchildren, Christine (Artie) Kunz, Dlorah (Jeff) Duluc, Kelly Walkley and Jessica Walkley; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Brielle, Nathaniel, Holly, JR. Jesson and his sister, Mildred Hetherington. He is predeceased by his brother, Fred Walkley.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Wednesday at St. Margaret R. C. Church, Pearl River. Entombment will be at Cemetery of the Ascension, Airmont, NY. Visiting is Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
