Dean B. Hansen, of Pearl River, former Post Commander of American Legion post #329, died on Wednesday November 27th, 2019 at the Veterans Home in Montrose, NY after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Dean was born on May 6th, 1937 in White Plains, NY, the son of Albert M. and Gertrude (Sullivan) Hansen.
Dean was a graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains and attended Dayton University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963 and was stationed in Germany. He worked for Tilcon in West Nyack for many years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed watching The History Channel, gardening, and reading.
Dean is survived by his wife of 42 years Mary (Mulhern) Hansen and his children Donna Colucci, Jennifer Hickey (Patrick), Dean Hansen Jr (Siobhan), Helen Johnson (Steve), Tricia Finucane (Michael), Karen Crilly (Greg), and Christa Hansen; as well as 19 grand-children. He is predeceased by his parents and one grand-daughter.
Visitation is Saturday November 30th, 2019 at the Wyman-Fischer Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River, NY from 2pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association of Rockland County, 301 North Main Street, New City, NY 10956.
