Arthur Ainsworth Obituary

Arthur H. Ainsworth a lifelong resident of Pearl River, NY died Monday January 3, 2011 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was 66.

Artie was born September 29, 1944 in Nyack, NY to Arthur C. and Elinor Ainsworth. He was educated in Pearl River, NY and graduated from Pearl River High School with the class of 1962.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966 during the Viet Nam War.

Artie worked as a firefighter and lead stock handler for Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River. He was with the company for 25 years before retiring in 2000. He was a member of the International Chemical Workers Union.

On May 10, 1980 he married Roberta Richardson at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Locally, he was a 43 year member of the Pearl River Fire Department and Ex-Captain of the Pearl River Hook and Ladder Company #1. He was Rockland County's Fireman of the Year in 1971.

He was a member of Viet Nam Veterans of America Chapter 333 in New City, NY. While a member of the Viet Nam Veterans of America he was involved with the watch fires at Piermont Pier in Piermont, NY.

He is survived by his loving wife Roberta L. Ainsworth of Port St. Lucie, FL. Daughters Sandra Newsome of Milford, Pa. and Jeannette Ainsworth of Pearl River, NY. Son, Matthew Ainsworth presently serving in the United States Navy. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren Christina, Kayla, Hailey and Karmin. Sister Christine Raebuck of Liberty, NY.

In his short time on earth he touched so many lives. He cared deeply for his family and friends and always worked tirelessly to provide for those around him. While his passing has left an empty place in our lives, our hearts are filled with so many stories and warm memories.

A mass will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Stephens's Episcopal Church, Pearl River, NY. Burial will follow at Germonds Cemetery New City NY. Visiting will be held Friday January 7, 2011 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. 100 Franklin Ave. Pearl River NY. A firematic Service will be held Friday at 8:00 PM.
