We are heartbroken over the sudden loss of our dear brother Richard on April 20, 2024. Affectionately known as “Rich” he is survived by his best friend and love, Allison; by his brothers James and Stephen (Stacey) and his sisters Susan McKeon (John) and Janet, and his niece and nephews, and large extended family. He was predeceased by his loving parents Frank and Theresa. Rich grew up in Pearl River and loved spending time there whenever possible. Rich graduated from Pearl River High School and St Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill NY.
Richard was a retired NYPD Sergeant where he worked for 30 years. At the time of his passing, he was a Sergeant with the Brewster Police Department. He dedicated his life to the service of helping others and protecting the communities where he worked. His colleagues have remembered him as a dedicated law enforcement officer with a stellar career. Many have mentioned how he was so kind and helpful in mentoring and guiding new officers.
Richard had boundless energy and a real zest for life. He loved life and had a million plans for his future. He loved everything about being in the great outdoors. He loved boating, fishing, hiking and scuba diving. Playing golf with his two brothers and nephews was his joy. He loved both the mountains and the beach. He had a great passion for travel and took every opportunity to see and travel to new places. He had a great interest in many hobbies and a passion for learning new things.
Rich will be sorley missed for his great sense of humor, and will always be remembered as a kind, loyal, friend, brother, uncle, and neighbor. He was so much fun to be around. He loved having a good time while watching his football teams, attending his nephews hockey games, spending cherished time with family during the holidays, attending backyard barbecues and family get togethers.
